Chain Sprockets

By jeffwillis3 at 2010-09-25 02:05:22
Chain sprockets are widely used for transmitting rotary motion between two shafts where gears are not suitable and to impart linear motion to a track. These are specially profiled wheels which are available with teeth that help in meshing with a chain, track or other perforated or indented material. Apart from this, these sprockets are extensively used in the film transport mechanisms of movie projectors and movie cameras. The chain sprockets can be made of Mild steel, Stainless steel, Alloy steel, Temered steel, Cast iron etc. A sprocket is a toothed wheel upon which a chain rides. Contrary to popular opinion, a sprocket is not a gear.

A sprocket is a profiled wheel with teeth that meshes with a chain, track or other perforated or indented material. It is distinguished from a gear in that sprockets are never meshed together directly, and differs from a pulley in that sprockets have teeth and pulleys are smooth. Sprockets are widely used in bicycles, motorcycles, cars, tanks, and other machinery. Sprockets typically do not have a flange. Some sprockets used with timing belts have flanges to keep the timing belt centered.

Chains have a surprising number of parts. The roller turns freely on the bushing, which is attached on each end to the inner plate. A pin passes through the bushing, and is attached at each end to the outer plate. Bicycle chains omit the bushing, instead using the circular ridge formed around the pin hole of the inner plate.

Elevator sprockets are used for lifting the objects from down to upwards. The companies used superior raw material for its manufacturing. These are made according to the client's specific requirements. These sprockets are widely appreciated for their corrosion resisitence, durability and high tolerance. Conveyor Sprockets, which are precisely engineered and easy to install. Manufactured using stainless steel, mild steel, and cast iron, these are anti-corrosive and have high tensile strength. Sharp teeth of conveyor sprockets ensure accurate and quick cutting of hard material.

Duplex chain sprockets are those in which two chains would be operated simultaneously. These are widely used in bicycles with gears. These are durable too, as they can withstand heat and high temperatures. On contrary simplex chain sprockets are single chain and are simple in nature and production. Simplex are most widely used. Triplex sprockets find applications in common machine tools and heavy industries. These are available in different capacities and is widely acknowledged for being flawless in design and resistant to abrasion.
